Dear Second Grade Families,

            I would like to take the time to introduce myself. My name is Alicia D’Armiento. The children can call me Miss D. Welcome to the school year. It is my pleasure to have the privilege of educating your children. I cordially invite you to embark on this year of growth with me and your children with hands on approach, paying close attention to a few topics…
 

• Homework will be sent home Monday-Thursday. Please provide assistance and reinforcement to your children when completing. Encourage your child to try his/her best. 

• The children will have their homework written in their assignment notebooks. Please make sure to check and ensure the children are completing the proper assigned tasks. Homework will also be posted on Google Classroom daily. Please make sure to accept the invitation based on your child’s school email. 

• The first couple of days, the children will be bringing home books. Please ensure that these books are covered- workbooks with contact paper and labeled with your child’s name. 

• Read to or with your child every night. Daily reading (15 minute minimum) is a homework requirement. 

• Provide time during the week or weekend for your child to spend time using IXL to provide further reinforcement of skills (further instructions will follow)

• Review all test papers and other assignments as they are sent home. The test folder will be sent home separately on Friday or Monday. Please sign the paper in the test folder (leave in the folder), remove the papers, and only send the folder back to school with the signed record sheet. 

• Please label all of your child’s belongings (supplies, clothing, backpack, lunch box, etc)

• Please encourage your child to come to school prepared daily (proper uniform, pencils, lunch, any notes, etc)

• Birthdays are celebrated once a month. Summer birthdays will be celebrated in June. (further information discussed on back to school night)

• A strong emphasis is placed on mindfulness, responsibility, kindness, cooperation, and doing one’s best
